Welcome to Department of Public Health
Introduction
Faculty of Medicine and Health Science; Department of Public Health offers opportunities for the future public health leaders in Somalia through engaging in hands-on courses, cutting-edge research and practice-based experience while investing in the education of future scientists who will advance the foundation of the disciplines most important to public health. The curriculum is designed to be competency-based rather than theoretical-based in order to qualify the candidates with the competencies needed for appropriate public health practice. The curriculum will focus on building the scientific bases of public health practice as well as the application and implementation of effective interventions to improve public health.

- Provision of quality education and leadership to promote health in human populations through interdisciplinary instruction, research and community service
- Preparation of graduates to be leaders in public health through focusing on the acquisition of the core public health competencies
- Adoption of community-oriented educational approaches in order to develop effective partnerships in combating the public health challenges and problems in our communities
- Upgrade the practice of public health promotion and disease prevention within the Somali communities.
Program Learning Outcome
- Educate the candidate through an academic program that prepares them to identify, address and resolve public health issues and manage public health programs in diverse settings.
- Advance public health knowledge through scientific investigation of health and disease, with a focus on the major public health problems in Somalia.
- Disseminate and interpret research results for professionals, and public and private health institutions.
- Advance the health of the communities through collaborative public health approaches to health promotion and disease prevention.
Entry Requirements
The minimum qualifications for candidates who intend to enrol a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering are as follows:
- High school Transcripts with a minimum of 75% and Passed Biology and Chemistry in National Examinations with a minimum of Grade C
- Good Command in English
- If failed to bring certificates Candidates are required to submit the National Roll no ID during the admission process and bring the full Diploma and Certificates when the Semester begins.
- Candidate has to bring 4 passport-sized photos when registering physically.
Award Requirements
To graduate, students must:
- Pass all the required courses in a total of 8 semesters with a minimum CGPA of 2.0.
- Pass graduation Thesis project
- Pass Field Training
- Complete all Professional Courses
