Welcome to Department of Medical Laboratory Science
The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) was established in 2014 as a department in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science. Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (B.Sc. MLS): It is an undergraduate Programme of 4 years duration (8 semesters).
MLS students learn theoretical knowledge in a broad range of subjects as well as practical, hands-on experience in a variety of lab techniques. Students integrate classroom learning with practical, laboratory–related experience and apply this to real-life projects. Students learn important life skills and explore career options.

Mission
The mission of the Medical Laboratory Science Department is to educate, train, and graduate professionally competent and ethical individuals, committed to life-long learning, and who are prepared to meet current and future workplace challenges in medical laboratory science.
Program Learning Outcome
- competency to perform a full range of testing in the contemporary medical laboratory encompassing pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical components of laboratory services, including haematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, body fluids, molecular diagnostics, phlebotomy, and immunohematology
- Proficiency in problem- solve, troubleshooting, and interpret results, and use statistical approaches when evaluating data
- Professional conduct, respecting the feelings and needs of others, protecting the confidence of patient information, and not allowing personal concerns and biases to interfere with the welfare of patients
- administrative skills consistent with philosophies of quality assurance, continuous quality improvement, laboratory education, fiscal resource management, and appropriate composure under stressful conditions
- Application of safety and governmental regulations and standards as applied to medical laboratory practice
- Effective communication skills to ensure accurate and appropriate information transfer

Entry Requirements
The minimum qualifications for candidates who intend to enrol a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science are as follows:
- High school Transcripts with a minimum of 75% and Passed Mathematics and Physics in National Examinations with a minimum of Grade C
- Good Command in English
- If failed to bring certificates Candidates are required to submit the National Roll no ID during the admission process and bring the full Diploma and Certificates when the Semester begins.
- Candidate has to bring 4 passport-sized photos when registering physically.
Award Requirements
To graduate, students must:
- Pass all the required courses in a total of 8 semesters with a minimum CGPA of 2.0.
- Pass Industrial Training
- Complete all Professional Courses
